Welcome to the MIDDLE SCHOOL HSIE website, here you will find links to all the subjects in MIDDLE SCHOOL HSIE. Please email teachers directly if there are questions relating to homework, coursework or general matters.
Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) encompasses a group of subjects that explores the remarkable world around us.
HSIE aims to have its students develop a self-sustaining interest and enjoyment in learning for its own sake, so that they will continue to enquire long after they have graduated from the compulsory years of schooling. The emphasis is on students doing their own research and finding out about natural phenomena and humankind for themselves.
Above all we believe that HSIE is an exciting subject and we hope to impart our enthusiasm to our students.

The goal in Year Seven is to introduce students to the study of Geography. Students will learn what Geography is and will develop the skills required to understand maps and a variety of Geographical tools. Students will also learn about the basic physical processes that shape the world environments including landform, climate, the water cycle ecosystems and food webs and human settlement and agriculture. These are foundational understandings that form a basis for the study of particular global environments, global change and global citizenship in Year Eight.
YEAR 8 GEOGRAPHY
Students undertake a study of the changing nature of the world and responses to these changes as well as global geographical issues and appropriate methods of citizenship for their management. Issues such as inequalities that exist between countries are covered in detail. There is a key focus on graphing and statistics for the portfolio task.
